Artist HIGHlight: Kim Bui [Sol Lewitt]

Lewitt GifWhen an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that all of the planning and decisions are made beforehand and the execution is a perfunctory affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes the art“-Sol LeWitt

Visionary Nails Inspo: Lady Gaga

GAGANAILSGIFDisclosing herself and making it openly known: ‘Mother-Monsteraka Lady Gaga is one of the people who showcase the art of challenging your brain! Her perceptions to life are highly controversial yet well receive in today’s culture. In relations to nails, Gaga has always been an active supporter of nail-art. The videos below are two mixture of nail-art styles uses by Lady Gaga in previous on-screen features. The lady behind the nail transition is, New York nail artist Aya Fukuda:

Video: Lady Gaga [Judas] :

‘Judas’ is a metaphor and an analogy about forgiveness and betrayal and things that haunt you in your life and how I believe that it’s the darkness in your life that ultimately shines and illuminates the greater light that you have upon you. Someone once said to me, ‘If you have no shadows then you’re not standing in the light.’ So the song is about washing the feet of both good and evil and understanding and forgiving the demons from your past in order to move into the greatness of your future. I just like really aggressive metaphors—harder, thicker, darker—and my fans do as well. So it is a very challenging and aggressive metaphor, but it is a metaphor”- Lady Gaga gives the narrative behind the concept. Since 2011 until now, the song is still enjoyed by fans and critics.

Video: Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett [The Lady is a Tramp]:

The metaphor behind the original, Tony Bennett sound is about a woman who has her significances in life and she is not anxious about playing in the serotypes of the New York high society. Of course! Lady Gaga takes the song to an entire different angle of hand life and her angelic personality.

With life being this giant roller-coaster, the formation of balance is key! Always in for a fun joyride, I spend some me-time roller skating at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Letting loose for some carefree speed and leg work, while watching the Brooklyn Bridge and reflecting on the beautiful scenery outside the ring…while trying not to fall! Lol

Ring-Bling, handcuff and a good conversation were the vibes over at Patricia Field [NYC]! For first time ‘knowers’, Patricia Field’s boutique has been a home for individuals who share at least one common interest: a rebel to a cookie-cutter style approach! Known for being the lead stylist for the world most fashionable trendsetting show on television history: HBO’S, Sex And The City – the store gives life while displays of inspiring pop-art pieces to funky glasses and even some overly loud raunchy costumes! What I have admire about, Patricia Field store are the variety in prices for a customer who is on a budget or has no budget! Not to mention the staff are overly cool and fun! Special thanks to the badass babe [stylist/singer/rapper] Dai Burger for being my onsite photographer! Fun, quirky, and worth it…
