“Cuz I’m a laaaddy”

Martin! Martinnnnn! Wow, guys it hasn’t been that long ago, but can you remember watching the, Martin Lawrence Show’ that had an entire generation laughing?  Well today we are take it back to the 90’s of our memory’s museum when the recollection of tuning into,  Fox 5 channel was a religious habit by choice!! Minus all of the drama, now looking back – being exposed to the 1992 comedy series was so epic as, Martin gave his best performances of perfecting the many character personals shown throughout the show. As a lead character, Martin switched up his different roles as; Mama Payne, Otis, Jerome, and Roscoe. However, Our ultimate favorite character is the ultimate loud mouth, Ms.Sheneneh Jenkins!

Sheneneh, in the sitcom is portrayed as a orthodox “ghetto girl,” who alway has on the latest flamboyant clothes, accessories and hair weaves with an “exaggerated booty”. Way before our time, this ebonics speaking gal have been exploiting what we call, “Ratchet” in the media way before our modern day girl figures, Miley Cyrus and Rihanna . With her bursting personality, ghetto fabulosity, and RACHETNESS, who cares when Sheneneh is humoring us with something to laugh and reminisce over! I hope you guys are ready for this one…Here are two videos of all our favorite episodes all in one…Watch while Sheneneh bring on the claw power!! :

Did you catch the Sheneneh feverrrr yet?! Lol, The next video is for all the nail artist watching. This clip displays the nail stylist of the show, Laquita who works at,  Sheneneh Sho’Nuff Hair Salon and is also the best friend of Sheneneh:

(SOOOO FUNNY!! She’s such a lady!) Don’t care what you have to say about her. Sheneneh Jenkins will forever be in our hearts…Forever and ever in the name of, Nail Art!!!

Cunnt Claws Nail’d: Tracy Kawaii

Hello November!!!! Starting with a new month, I was so stoked to present to you a new artist that I discovered right here in, NYC.  Based in the Flushing, Queens- freelance nail artist, Tracy Lok (Tracy Kawaii) is what I call a “Kawaii nail artist” who started doing nails as a hobby then as time progress; she took her craft to another level by revolving her pleasurable hobby into a part-time job along side her normal full-time day job. Admiring Tracy’s drive and of course her love for nail art, I was beyond bliss to experience a new talent right here in my city.

Offering me something to be excited about to the starting of this cold, November month -Tracy invited me into her cozy living space to supply my claws for its very first, Kawaii nail art! For those who are new to this type of nail art, Kawaii means “Cute” and it is a Japanese nail design, which entails loads of dainty embellishments. These embellishments can differ based on what spirit one may feel at the moment. For the most part, to stay in the realm of the Kawaii tradition, getting adorable characters such as; Hello kitty, Cupcakes, Ice-Cream cones, bunnies, etc are just a few charming 3-d characters that is collaborated with different variations of studs to complete the look. My first Kawaii experience shared with you!! :

During the process Nikki stated how these particular characters disturbed her childhood’s psychological (We don’t blame you girl, gessh!). Even in this day and age, the creational process for Nikki was hard to fathom, as to why these imaginary character still haunts her adulthood, but we are sure most of you can identify with her on this one!

The nail-art empahasis today is zoom on the heavy detailing, which each protagonist is bought to life. Petrifying, frightening and mind bothering on every level, we are proud to present to you another segment of, Artist HIGHlight !!! :

blog 2Pennywise – From the movie “It” , this scary looking character primarily appears in the form of a clown (Pennywise) in order to attract his preferred prey of young children (This creature can take different form, but mostly appears as Pennywise the clown). The movie follows the adventures of seven children as they are terrorized by Pennywise, who exploits the fears and phobias of his victims in order to disguise himself while hunting for his prey.

Jigsaw Based on the movie, “SAW this character builds deadly traps for his preys, which are often a symbolic demonstration of what Jigsaw perceives as a flaw in the person’s life. Jigsaw calls these tests “games”, and tells the person the “rules” of the game by audio or videotape. The rules are tasks that the person must perform in order to pass the test and survive. On some occasion, Jigsaw uses psychological torture as one of the test being used on his prey. However, the tasks often involve extreme self-mutilation and most of the traps are made of scavenged materials, rusty bolts, decaying iron, or anything else he thinks will help him create a new “game”.

blog 4Freddy– A serial killer from the movie, “Nightmare on Elm Street“, who uses a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers, to stalk and kill people in their dreams. All the murders that are suppose to only be in a dream is actually the deaths of each person in reality!!

blog 3Chucky – A killer “Good Guy” doll that had his soul transferred into the doll, seen in the movie, “Childs Play“,  by using voodoo. In the first three films, he looks like a normal doll, but in the last three, he has many scars and stitches on his face and body. Despite his small size, Chucky has the strength of a full-grown man. He has tried to transfer his soul into others to escape his “Good Guy” doll body and get his revenge on the people. He fails to do so to, killing anyone who stands in his way. Cunnt Facts:  Sugar skulls represented a departed soul, which had the name written on the forehead and was placed on gravestone to honor the return of a particular spirit. Sugar skull art reflects the folk art style of big happy smiles, colorful icing and sparkly tin and glittery adornments.

Italian missionaries brought sugar art to the New World in the 17th century. The first Church mention of sugar art was from Palermo at Easter time when little sugar lambs and angels were made to adorn the side altars in the Catholic Church (Source: mexicansugarskull.com)

Cunnt DIY: These Sugar Skulls nail design is a cool modern way to up-do the traditional skull heads. Below is a DIY tutorial of how to execute a sugar skull on you own nails:
