Artist HIGHlight: Marlene Rockets [Anti-Valentines Day]
Roses are red, violets Are blue…Blaaah, Blaah, Blah!!!! (Sound of reck turntable) Happy Valentines Day everyone!!! As some embrace this day in retrospect to finding true love, here at Cunnt Claws we are seriously lovesick and smitten to receive an over-the-top invitation from both love-rebellion and “Artist HIGHlight” nail artist, Marlene Rockets today. Having unrestricted creative control of the art that is seen on these nail sets, Marlene Rockets expresses visual emotions that are courageously self-explanatory, which is encourage here at Cunnt Claws to help push artist creativity realms that are usually hidden deep, deep, deep in the subconscious.
Visual Inspiration: Nail art erected from the, Kama Sutra texts- which focuses on the human sexual behavior.
What You See:
Index Finger: Karma Sutra (Human Sexual Behaviors)
Middle Finger: Typography / Middle finger / Broken Heart
Ring Finger: Liquid Heart wrapped in claw fingers
Baby Finger: Typography (F*** Love)
For me as a conceptual nail art blogger, I do indeed get bored occasionally seeing the same type of nail designs created over and over again. So, when Tish exposed the her V-Day creations to me, I was a little concern about the message that might be visually interpreted (Omg, such vulgar words and wait!… is that nail porn?!!). However, the vital goal here is to stay true to what the entire, Cunnt Claws movement is visually about: Representing, silently outspoken nails. Nonetheless, Marlene Rockets did a whimsical job at representing that (Australia staaand-up, you guys know how to leave a bish’ speechless, omg!) What do you guys feel about these nail sets?

NYFW Fall 14: Less Overdone
Making yet another appearance on the high-end fashion and beauty scène this season, nail art is noticeably not going anywhere!! Designers from all different realms embraced the art of making the statement on nails a continuing trend, which shows the market of the high nail art demand. However, this season the nail designs were not about over exaggerated prints and patterns that were seen last season! For Fall 2014, designers took a more classic approach by doing more shorter nails in two-tones polishes as seen on the runways by some designers such as; Adam Selman, Peter Som, and Tess Giberson. I was anticipating to see a bit more over the top nails designs on the runways as seen on runway at The Blonds show, but I guess designers wanted to keep the focus more on the garments and letting the minimalistic nail art be that little extra accessory to finish off their collection. Nonetheless, still appreciative! And shout-out to all the designers who welcomed nail art back onto the runways for another season!(The nail gods are smiling from above):
Desigual: Sold gold polish w/ accents of embellishment
Rebecca Minkoff: Ultra neons hues, to up-play a classic french tip design
Tess Gibson: French Manicure in metallic black base polish w/ white tips
Peter Som: [Cunnt Claws Fav] Reverse french in black & white polish
Nicole Miller: Ombre application in a “feather-like” effect
Emerson: Negative space design w/ slanted tips in black & grey color
Cúshnie et Ochs: [Cunnt Claws’ Fav] Claws in flourescent and matallic hues!!
The Blonds [Cunnt Claws’ fav]: Guns, grenades, and mask faces!!! Inspired by the “Comic Book Villians” movie. Special shout-out to, CND for this awesome cunnt design!!
Degen: [Cunnt Claws’ Fav] Rainbow & Sky nail design!!!

Boom Nails: Lichtenstein Inspired
Over the years, I have grown and developed a high admiration to the evolution of art. Growing up in a big city, art is a huge influence and is embedded in the trains, streets, building, etc. Watching art play out into my own personal life, it still remains relevant and has become more well rounded in the sense of art being the legitimate “right- hand ” to the nail art world.
The nail art that you see are from London nail artist, Boom Nails that is inspired recreation by American pop artist, Roy Lichtenstein sand dune painting! Inspired movingly by “Comic Strips”, in the 1960’s Lichtenstein was considered the lead creature of the new art movement.
Inspiration : Roy Lichenstein [Guild Hall East Hampton, 1980]
